The Challenge
As part of its broader corporate social responsibility, ESG requirements and internal appetite for reconciliation, NSWLRS was seeking support to navigate through the journey of Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) endorsement and accreditation. NSWLRS was looking for a partner that would be able to understand and coordinate all the different initiatives they intended on committing to while embedding the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) as part of its overall strategic direction. With an internal commitment to advance reconciliation within the business over a minimum 4-year period, NSWLRS wanted to advance this process in an authentic and genuine manner.
The Solution
The first step was a deep dive into the business and its strategic direction. YarnnUp created linkages between NSWLRS’s current overall organisational strategy, initiatives and the intended outputs of its Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to ensure the business was moving in synergy across its multiple objectives. Throughout this process we found opportunities for engagement with relevant stakeholders that could bring value to the business and help spearhead the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) process. We worked closely with the NSWLRS team to collate their thoughts and feedback and guide the direction of the Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) document. YarnnUp then worked independently to collate and summarise the information to ensure it was representative of the collective and begin drafting then submitting the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to Reconciliation Australia.
The Impact
NSWLRS achieved formal endorsement and accreditation within the 12-week deadline stipulated at the start of the engagement. A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) launch was planned and executed with the artist showcasing his Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) artwork. On the back of this launch and successful buy-in from executives and leaders from within the business, multiple successful RAP working group meetings have led to the development of an internal intranet for the HR department as well as the rollout of organisation wide cultural awareness and capability training has all been successfully executed. In 2023 NSWLRS will begin the development of its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) partnering with YarnnUp on this journey also.
